Grab The Key First

The lockbox on 4BB31 is not under a seat. Sit in the driver's seat, look down and to your right, and it is on the passenger floorboard below the glovebox, right where a passenger's right foot would go.

1. Look down and right, below the glovebox. Passenger side floorboard. No seats to lift on this one.
2. Line up the four digits. Straight across, and they like to sit half a notch off.
3. Slide the black button down. The lid pops and the key is inside.

Five Things Before The First Drive

4BB31 is not lifted, and that genuinely helps. A lower body means a lower center of gravity, an easier step in, and a vehicle that behaves better in a corner than the lifted units do. It does not make it a car.

1. Four belts, four riders. One per seat, buckled, kids included. No laps, no standing, nobody on the back step while it moves. Hands and feet stay inside.
2. Approved drivers only. 22 or older, valid license, active auto insurance in their own name, and listed and approved on the signed agreement before the rental began. That is who gets the code. Anyone else driving is prohibited use, which voids coverage and shifts responsibility to the renter.
3. Car seats travel with you. Florida Statute 316.613 requires a child through age 3 to ride in a separate carrier or an integrated child seat, and a booster does not satisfy it. A child aged 4 or 5 needs a carrier, an integrated seat, or a booster.
4. Phone stays down while moving, and so does the beer. All phone use while the vehicle is in motion is prohibited, handheld and hands free. Florida DUI law applies here exactly as it does to your car.
5. Walk around it once. Tires, belts, lights, body. Text a photo of anything that looks off to (850) 830-4699 before you pull out. If there is a crash: 911, stay, report, then text us.

Fire It Up

1. Belts on before the key goes in. Set the habit on day one.
2. Tow switch must be on RUN, not TOW. Look near the battery compartment under the seat, or on the front passenger side by the glovebox. Parked on TOW, the vehicle is deliberately dead.
3. Turn the key twice to the right. One click lights the dashboard, two clicks wakes the drive system. One click is the single most common reason a cart seems broken.
4. Choose F or R at a complete stop. Never mid roll.
5. Ease onto the pedal. Electric power arrives instantly and quietly.
6. Headlights, blinkers and horn all work. Use them on public roads. Black is a beautiful color and a hard one to see at dusk.

The Meter That Looks Like It Is Lying To You

4BB31 runs a Trojan lead acid battery, and its meter sits near the steering wheel rather than over by the glovebox. Read this part, because this is our single most common "something is wrong with the cart" text and it is not a problem at all.

Plugging In, Every Night

One chore, one time a day. Standard wall outlet, roughly eight hours from low to full, and plug it in any time it is sitting rather than rolling.

• Every night, even after a short run. Habit beats memory on vacation, and this battery in particular does not like being left low.
• One outlet per vehicle. Two on the same circuit trips the breaker overnight. Stagger them if you only have one.
• Older place, clear circuit. Unplug the coffee maker and the TV from that outlet before the charger goes in.
• Watch for the glow at both cord ends. Both light up when it is actually charging. Dark ends mean a dead outlet, not a dead cart.
• The cord rides in the vehicle. Not on the condo counter. A flat battery at the far end of 30A is a $200 tow.

After Dark

Wake the dash first, key in the ignition until it lights, then find the small silver remote tethered to the dashboard and press Power.

• Mode runs solid, seven chase patterns, pulse, scan, strobe, fade, S.O.S, plus music and voice reactive modes.
• Color gives red, hot pink, pink, purple, orange, yellow, green, teal, blue, white, color cycle and color fade.
• Speed has five levels.

Underglow is decoration, not lighting. On a black vehicle at dusk your headlights and tail lights are doing the real work, so switch them on early and use your blinkers.

Music

Key to on, open Bluetooth on your phone, pick this cart's speaker, and you are paired for the week. Keep it low enough to hear a siren or a shout, and drop it down through the neighborhoods after dark.

Roads You Can Actually Use

4BB31 is titled, tagged and insured as a Low Speed Vehicle under Florida Statute 320.01 and 49 C.F.R. 571.500. Florida Statute 316.2122 puts it on public roads posted 35 mph or less, which around here means Scenic Gulf Drive through Miramar Beach and Destin and County Road 30A through Santa Rosa Beach, plus the neighborhood streets between them.

Never on US-98, the Emerald Coast Parkway, at any point, including crossing it anywhere other than a legal signalized intersection. Never on sidewalks, beach walkovers, dune trails or the sand.

Communities write their own rules on top of state law, and several well known names along 30A and inside Sandestin do not allow rental vehicles at all. Look your address up on the Neighborhood Rules page before you plan the day, and follow whatever the gate or the guard tells you once you are inside. Park in marked spaces only, never blocking a walkover, a bike lane, a crosswalk, a hydrant or a driveway, and set the parking brake every time.

The AirTag, And How The Week Ends

Every vehicle we rent carries an Apple AirTag that cannot be removed, so we can find you quickly if you need help. If your phone flags an unknown AirTag traveling with you, that is ours, and the ID on the windshield tells you which vehicle it belongs to.

It arrives clean and charged by your start time, sometimes early, because drivers run a geographic route rather than the clock. Early is yours to enjoy. If nobody is home we park it neatly to the side, out of the way.

1. Charge it to 90 percent or better and leave it plugged in. Under 90 is a $100 charge.
2. Key back in the lockbox, digits scrambled. Cord back in the vehicle.
3. Text (850) 830-4699 when it is ready. We come at the end of the rental or shortly after, depending on the route.

Charges worth dodging: lost key or remote $50, missing cord $50, stranded tow $200, late return $100 an hour, and citations passed through plus a $35 admin fee. Everything else is in the Terms.

When It Acts Up

It will not charge

Cord ends dark means start at the breaker. A tripped GFI is nearly always the answer. Reset it, replug, look for the glow. Still nothing, unplug for thirty seconds and try again. Two vehicles at the house means two separate circuits.

It will not start or move

Tow switch on RUN. Key twice to the right. Parking brake released. Direction selector fully in F or R. Work that list in order before you text.

The meter has not moved

If it is plugged in and both cord ends are glowing, that is expected on this battery. It updates when charging finishes. Not a fault.

Anything that feels unsafe

Soft tire, steering that pulls, a brake pedal that goes long, a warning light. Park somewhere safe and legal and text us instead of pressing on.
