Why Destin Is Cart Country.
Destin doesn't make you fight for the cart-friendly streets. The residential grid east of the Marler Bridge runs at 25-30 mph. Crystal Beach and Old Destin neighborhoods are designed for slow traffic. Scenic Highway 98 (the old one, not the bypass) is a posted-35 corridor with most beach access points along it. The cart is the right vehicle for almost every Destin task that isn't getting on the bypass.

You Can Drive
Crystal Beach residential streets, Holiday Isle, Old Destin grids, the entire Scenic Highway 98 corridor (the original old highway), and Henderson area side streets. Any posted speed limit 35 mph or less. The City of Destin publishes the rules directly at the City of Destin LSV FAQ.
You Cannot Drive
The newer Highway 98 / Emerald Coast Parkway bypass is off-limits — speed limit's too high. You can cross at signaled intersections. Sidewalks, bike paths, beach sand, and trails are also off-limits. LSVs are registered motor vehicles — roads only. Destin is Okaloosa County jurisdiction; LSV registration runs through the Okaloosa County Tax Collector.

Destin in season has parking lots that fill by 9am, restaurant valet lines that run 45 minutes on weekends, and beach access lots that turn cars away by 10:30. Most renters use the car twice all week — airport in, airport out. Everything else is the cart.

Our 4-seat carts fit through every standard residential gate including narrower vendor entrances. The 6-seat lifted bundles need standard-width gates. No. The Marler Bridge is a 45 mph stretch of US-98, which exceeds the 35 mph LSV limit. To get from Crystal Beach to Holiday Isle or Destin Harbor, you'd take the car. The cart shines inside Crystal Beach, inside Holiday Isle, or inside Old Destin's residential grid — but the bridge separating them is car-only.
Harborwalk Village has designated cart parking near the boardwalk's east entrance. Boshamps and Brotula's allow cart parking in their own lots. The Crab Trap on the beach side has dedicated beach-access cart parking. Kenny D's and Camille's at Crystal Beach are both in cart-friendly neighborhoods with on-street parking. Hardest place to park a cart in Destin is the bypass strip mall lots — stick to the residential grid.
Drivers must be 22 or older with a valid driver's license. Florida's general LSV law allows 16+, but our commercial carrier insurance requires 22. The result: everyone listed on the agreement is fully insured throughout the rental — no surprise denial. Other shops accept 18+; they're also the shops where claims get disputed. Two drivers are included; add a third for $15 via our e-sign add-a-driver form.

Yes — we deliver in light rain and after thunderstorms pass. Florida summer storms typically last 20-45 minutes, then sun returns. The cart has a windshield and full roof. The only weather we hold delivery for is active severe weather (tornado warning, hurricane prep, sustained 35+ mph winds). If a hurricane forces an early return, you get a prorated refund per our cancellation policy.
No. Florida's DUI laws apply to LSVs exactly as they apply to cars. Same .08 BAC threshold, same penalties, same Okaloosa and Walton County enforcement. The sunset cruise is the cart's best use; the designated driver makes it work.
Any standard 110V outdoor outlet — most Destin vacation rentals have one in the garage, by the driveway, or near the back patio. We provide a 12-gauge outdoor-rated extension cord with every electric cart. Plug in whenever the cart isn't moving. Lithium batteries prefer to be topped off — no "memory effect" to worry about.

Real-world range in 90+ degree heat with accessories and 4-6 passengers: 25-35 miles for the 4-seat electric, 22-32 miles for the 6-seat electric. For longer days (Holiday Isle to Henderson Beach Resort and back, repeatedly), the gas 6-seat removes range anxiety entirely.
No — Florida law prohibits any motor vehicle on Okaloosa and Walton beaches, including LSVs. You park the cart at the beach access point (most have dedicated cart parking) and walk the last 30 yards across the boardwalk. The reason is environmental: sea turtle nesting, dune protection, and emergency vehicle access.
A valid driver's license, your rental agreement (we email a copy you can save to your phone), and proof of insurance (also in the email). Our carts have Florida plates, current registration, all required equipment (mirrors, turn signals, seatbelts, AS4 windshield, lights), and a VIN. Most stops in Destin are courtesy stops — speeding through a residential neighborhood, a passenger not buckled in. Drive like you'd drive a car. Single-day rentals are available subject to fleet availability — typically Sunday-Thursday outside peak summer. Half-day isn't a published bundle, but the weekend bundle usually beats two single-day rates. Pick your dates in the booking flow and the system shows you the cheapest matching bundle. Monthly bundles unlock the lowest per-day rate for snowbirds and long-stay renters.

"No golf carts" usually means one of three things: (1) the HOA actually bans rental carts — no workaround, (2) the property manager is repeating something they heard once and the HOA actually permits carts — we can call and clarify on your behalf, or (3) the property allows carts but not in the driveway overnight — we can stage delivery to a nearby public location. First of all — dad bods are undefeated and we will not be slandering them on this website. Second, you want the 4-seat electric or 6-seat electric (non-lifted). Non-lifted carts have a lower step-in height (~14-16 inches vs. 22+ inches on the gas lifted) so you slide in instead of climbing in. The lower center of gravity also means a smoother ride at full speed, which your back will thank you for. Save the lifted gas 6-seat for when summer-bod season comes back around. The dad bod gets the dignified entrance.
Congratulations — and yes, we get this a lot. The answer is 4-seat electric. Three reasons. One: non-lifted means an easier step-in, which matters way more in the third trimester. Two: electric is whisper-quiet, so no engine vibration through the seat. Three: Crystal Beach and Holiday Isle have the smoothest residential streets on the Destin side — fewer potholes than older grids. The cart has full 3-point seat belts at every seat, which OBs prefer for any motor vehicle. Keep rides short and frequent rather than one big day-long expedition — bathrooms exist for a reason.
6-seat electric, non-lifted. Low step-in, smooth quiet ride, dignified entrance.
