Black 6-Seat Electric 2026 VCarts — Operating Guide
Everything you need to drive, enjoy, and get the most out of the BV55L during your Beach Better rental in Miramar Beach, Destin, Santa Rosa Beach, and along 30A.
Quick Answer
The BV55L is a 2026 VCarts E-Series 6-seat electric low speed vehicle (LSV) assigned to your Beach Better rental. The key is inside a lockbox under the middle row seat — lift the cushion, enter your 4-digit code (texted and emailed to you before arrival), and retrieve the key. The cart features a 108Ah lithium-ion battery, 11-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, 3-point seat belts at every seat, and is street-legal on Florida public roads posted 35 mph or lower. Charge every night. Return at 90% or higher to avoid a $100 low-charge fee.
Section 1 — Getting The Key
Finding The Lockbox In The BV55L
Your key is waiting inside a 4x8 inch lockbox mounted under the middle row seat. Lift the middle row seat cushion and you will find the lockbox right underneath.
Walk to the middle row of the cart
The BV55L seats 6 in three rows. The middle row is the one between the front driver and passenger seats and the rear-facing back seat.
Lift up the middle row seat cushion
The seat cushion hinges upward. Grab the front edge and lift — no tools needed.
Locate the 4x8 inch lockbox
A small black lockbox (roughly 4 inches by 8 inches) is mounted underneath the seat. Your 4-digit access code was texted and emailed to you before your rental. You will receive the code again at rental start time.
Enter the code and retrieve the key
Turn the dials to match your code, then open the lockbox. The key to the BV55L is inside. Close the lockbox after you take the key so it stays secure during your rental.
Cannot Find Your Code?
Check the confirmation email and text message from Beach Better. If you still cannot locate your code, text (850) 830-4699 and we will send it again right away. Lost keys carry a $50 replacement fee.
Section 2 — Charging
How To Charge The BV55L Lithium Battery
Golden rule: plug in whenever parked. Charge overnight every night. The 108Ah lithium-ion battery charges faster and lasts longer than legacy lead-acid systems, but still needs to be plugged in after each day of use.
Plug the charging cord into the cart first
Flip open the charging port cover. Connect the charging cord to the BV55L charging port before plugging into the wall. Always carry the charging cord with you — a missing extension cord carries a $50 replacement fee.
Plug into a dedicated wall outlet
Use a standard household outlet with nothing else plugged into it. If you are charging multiple carts, each needs its own separate outlet — do not share circuits.
Confirm the charger is working
Check the charger status LED indicator. See the color-code table below for what each light means.
Leave plugged in overnight
A fully depleted battery takes approximately 6 to 8 hours to reach full charge. Overnight charging is standard. Battery depletes faster once it drops below 50%, so top up before that point whenever possible.
Charger Status Lights — What Each Color Means
| Light | What It Means |
|---|---|
| Red | Error or problem — unplug, wait 30 seconds, try a different outlet. Text (850) 830-4699 if it persists. |
| Orange Blinking | Actively charging. Leave it plugged in. |
| Orange Solid | Almost fully charged. A little more time and you are at 100%. |
| Green Blinking | Nearly full. Top-off mode. |
| Green Solid | 100% charged. Ready for your next adventure. |
Monitoring Battery Level On The Touchscreen
The 11-inch touchscreen displays your real-time battery percentage (SOC — State Of Charge) in the corner of the speed dashboard. Check it before heading out and again when you park. Plan your routes so you return with enough charge to avoid a dead battery situation away from your rental.
Protect Your Trip
A cart that runs out of charge away from your rental property will need to be towed back at your expense. Keep an eye on the battery percentage throughout the day — especially in hot weather, with a full load of passengers, or on longer drives along 30A or Scenic Gulf Drive. Electric carts returned below 90% charge are subject to a $100 low-charge fee.
Cart Will Not Move? Try This First
Check The Tow Switch
The tow switch must be set to RUN (not TOW) for the cart to operate. It is usually located near the battery compartment under the seat.
Turn The Key Twice
Turn the key fully to the right, then back to center, then to the right again. This wakes the system.
Florida Laws
Where You Can And Cannot Drive The BV55L
The BV55L is a titled, plated low speed vehicle (LSV) registered with the State of Florida. You can drive it on public roads with a posted speed limit of 35 mph or lower.
Yes — You Can Drive Here
30A (Santa Rosa Beach), Scenic Gulf Drive (Miramar Beach and Destin), Scenic Highway 98, and any public Florida road posted at 35 mph or lower. Cross Business 98 at traffic lights only.
No — Do Not Drive Here
Emerald Coast Parkway (Business 98), sidewalks, the beach itself, grass areas, walking trails, or any road posted above 35 mph. Violations carry tickets and risk of immediate cart confiscation with no refund.
Driver Requirements
Operators must hold a valid state-issued driver's license, be at least 22 years of age, carry active auto insurance in their name, and be listed as an approved driver on your Beach Better rental agreement.
Seat Belts & Passengers

Headlights After Dark
Headlights are required after dark in Florida. The BV55L has LED headlights that turn on through the dashboard controls.
No Phone, No Drinking
Do not use your cell phone while driving. Do not operate the BV55L under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Violations are treated identically to driving a passenger car in Florida.

11" Touchscreen, Bluetooth, CarPlay & Android Auto
Your BV55L has a full in-dash entertainment system — stream music, take hands-free calls, run Google Maps, and keep the party rolling. Both wired and Bluetooth connections are supported.
Turn the key to the "ON" position
The 11-inch touchscreen will power up. You do not need to be in drive mode to use the entertainment system.
Open Bluetooth settings on your phone
Look for a device name starting with "VCarts" or "BEYOND" in your available devices list.
Pair your phone to the cart
Tap the device name to pair. Confirm the pairing code if prompted. Once paired, the touchscreen will show your phone is connected.
Launch CarPlay or Android Auto
For wired connection, plug into the USB or USB-C port and select PhoneLink on the touchscreen. For wireless setup, follow the prompts on your phone. Once connected, you get maps, music, and messaging right on the cart screen.
Good To Know
The cart includes both a standard USB port and a USB-C port. Bring the appropriate cable if you plan to use wired CarPlay or Android Auto. Passengers can keep devices charged during longer rides.
Sound System & LED Lights
4-Speaker Audio
The BV55L has a built-in 4-speaker system. Stream music over Bluetooth or USB. Speakers are mounted under seats and at the front to fill the cart with sound without distortion.
LED Glow Lights
Underglow LED lights add night-drive ambiance. Use the keychain remote to power them on and cycle colors. If the remote does not respond, flip the dashboard switch to reset power to the system.

Accidents, AirTag Tracking, And What To Do In An Emergency
In An Accident — Call 911
Florida law requires calling 911 for any accident involving an LSV, even single-vehicle. Stay at the scene. Do not move the cart unless directed by law enforcement. Get the officer's name and badge number. Gather witness info. Document with photos and video. Then notify Beach Better.
AirTag Tracking
Every Beach Better rental cart has a non-removable Apple AirTag for fleet security. If your phone shows an AirTag alert, confirm the cart ID on the windshield matches your rental. This is normal.
Mechanical Issue During Your Trip
Text (850) 830-4699 with a photo or short description of the issue. Our service team will walk you through next steps as quickly as possible.
Collision Protection (RCP)
Renter's Collision Protection reduces your out-of-pocket responsibility if an accident occurs. If you purchased RCP at booking, it already applies to the BV55L.

Stranded Cart Recovery
Battery Ran Completely Dead? Book A Tow.
If the BV55L runs out of charge away from your rental property, we can dispatch a tow to pick up the cart and return it for recharging. This service is at the renter's expense because it results from not monitoring the battery level during use. Book the tow directly from the Beach Better Square scheduler.

BV55L Frequently Asked Questions
Where is the lockbox on the BV55L?
The lockbox is mounted underneath the middle row seat. Lift up the middle row seat cushion and you will find a 4 inch by 8 inch black lockbox. Your 4-digit access code was sent by text and email before your rental. Enter the code to retrieve the key.
What kind of golf cart is the BV55L?
The BV55L is a 2026 VCarts E-Series 6-seat electric low speed vehicle (LSV) in black. It is powered by a V³Power 48V 108Ah lithium-ion battery and a 5kW electric motor. It is titled, plated, and street-legal in Florida on roads posted 35 mph or lower.
How long does the BV55L battery last on a full charge?
On a full charge, the 108Ah lithium-ion battery typically supports a full day of normal vacation driving — roughly 30 to 45 miles of mixed-speed use with a moderate passenger load. Range varies with temperature, speed, terrain, and number of passengers. Charge every night to start each day with a full battery.
Does the BV55L have Apple CarPlay and Android Auto?
Yes. The 11-inch touchscreen supports both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Connect via the USB or USB-C port, or pair over Bluetooth. Streaming music, hands-free calling, and Google Maps navigation are all supported.
Can I add a second cart to my reservation if my group is bigger than I expected?
Yes. You can book a second rental cart online at any time during your stay, subject to fleet availability. Visit rent.alwaysbeachbetter.com to browse available carts and add one to the same delivery address.
Can my spouse or family member drive the BV55L?
Only drivers listed and approved on your Beach Better rental agreement may operate the cart. The first 2 additional drivers are free — each additional driver after that is $15. Add a driver online before they take the wheel.
How old do I have to be to drive the BV55L?
The minimum age to operate the BV55L is 22 years old. The driver must also hold a valid state-issued driver's license, carry active auto insurance in their own name, and be listed as an approved driver on the Beach Better rental agreement.
What happens if I return the BV55L with a low battery?
Electric rental carts must be returned with a battery charge of 90% or higher. Carts returned below 90% are subject to a $100 low-charge fee charged to the card on file. Charge overnight before your return date to avoid the fee.
What if the BV55L dies while I am driving it?
If the cart runs completely out of charge away from your rental property, Beach Better offers a paid stranded-cart pickup service. Book the tow through our Square scheduler. The service is at the renter's expense because it results from not monitoring the battery level.
What do the colors on the charger LED mean?
Red means an error — unplug, wait 30 seconds, and try again. Orange blinking means actively charging. Orange solid means almost fully charged. Green blinking is top-off mode. Green solid means 100% charged and ready to drive.
Why will the BV55L not move?
First, check that the tow switch is set to RUN, not TOW. Then try turning the key fully to the right, back to center, and to the right again. If the cart still will not move, text (850) 830-4699 and we will help troubleshoot.
Where can I drive the BV55L along 30A, Destin, and Miramar Beach?
The BV55L is street-legal on any Florida public road posted at 35 mph or lower. That includes 30A in Santa Rosa Beach, Scenic Gulf Drive in Miramar Beach and Destin, Scenic Highway 98, and most neighborhood streets. Do not drive on Emerald Coast Parkway (Business 98), sidewalks, the beach, grass, trails, or any road posted above 35 mph.
Does the BV55L have seat belts for all 6 passengers?
Yes. The BV55L is equipped with 3-point seat belts at every seat. Florida law requires all passengers in a low speed vehicle to wear seat belts. Car seats are required for children under 3. No lap riding and no double-buckling.
Is there a backup camera on the BV55L?
Yes. The BV55L includes a reverse / backup camera that displays on the 11-inch touchscreen when the cart is shifted into reverse. Side mirrors with integrated blinkers and an interior rear view mirror are also standard.
Can I fold the rear seat down to carry beach gear?
Yes. The rear seat folds down to create a flat cargo surface — useful for coolers, beach chairs, umbrellas, groceries, and luggage. The cargo area is open-air, so secure loose items before driving.
What do I do if I get an AirTag alert on my phone?
Every Beach Better rental cart has a non-removable Apple AirTag installed for fleet security. An alert on your phone during your rental is expected. Check the unique cart ID on the windshield — if it matches BV55L, the alert is coming from your rental and no action is needed.
Is it safe to leave the BV55L plugged in all the time?
Yes — and it's actually preferred. The BV55L uses a 48V lithium-ion battery with a built-in battery management system that stops drawing power once full. Leaving it plugged in will not overcharge, damage, or degrade the battery. Our fleet rule: plugged in is the default state. If the cart is parked, it should be charging. The only time the BV55L should be unplugged is when it's being driven.
Grocery Runs By Cart
Where You Can Grab Groceries Without Leaving The Cart
Vacation still needs groceries. Every stop below is reachable from our Miramar Beach shop on LSV-legal roads — no crossing Business 98 required unless noted. Load up the BV55L's rear cargo area, strap the cooler in, and skip the rental car.
Winn-Dixie Miramar Beach
65 Poinciana Blvd, Miramar Beach, FL 32550The closest full grocery to our shop. Open 7 AM to 10 PM daily. Good beach supply aisle (chairs, towels, sand toys). Liquor store next door. Plenty of easy parking for a golf cart right up front.
Publix at Grand Boulevard
725 Grand Blvd, Sandestin, FL 32550Nicer option with a wider selection, pub subs, and a proper deli. Located in the Grand Boulevard shopping area — you can knock out groceries, dinner, and shopping all in one stop. Open 7 AM to 10 PM daily.
The Market Shops
9375 Emerald Coast Pkwy W, Miramar Beach, FL 32550Not a full grocery — a specialty shopping plaza with boutique food, coffee, ice cream, and the SoWal Health pharmacy. Great for last-minute vacation treats, gifts, and date-night pickups.
Grand Boulevard Farmers' Market
600 Grand Blvd, Miramar Beach, FL 32550Saturday mornings only, 9 AM to 1 PM. Fresh local produce, honey, baked goods, crab cakes, soap, and dog treats. Worth planning your week around — an Emerald Coast tradition.
Sundries General Market
9100 Baytowne Wharf Blvd, Miramar Beach, FL 32550Tucked inside Sandestin's Baytowne Wharf village. Convenience-store scale, but surprisingly complete — snacks, wine, beer, household essentials. Great for a sunset run during a Baytowne evening stroll.
Dollar General
13445 US-98 W, Miramar Beach, FL 32550The last-minute save. Sunscreen, beach chairs, ice, pool noodles, paper plates — the kind of thing nobody wants to pay Seascape's resort-shop prices for. Budget-friendly and open until 9 PM.
Distances and hours current at posting. Some routes may briefly cross Emerald Coast Parkway (Business 98) at a traffic light — that's legal for LSVs, but driving along it is not. Check your route before heading out.
You can (and should) leave this cart plugged in whenever you're not driving it.
It feels counterintuitive — most of us have been trained to unplug phones and laptops so we don't "overcharge" them. With the BV55L's 48V lithium battery, the opposite is true. Leaving it plugged in is not only safe, it's actually what the battery prefers.
Modern lithium battery management systems monitor the pack and automatically stop drawing power once full. The charger just sits there, ready to top up the moment any energy is used. That means every time you start your next drive, you're starting at 100%. No damage. No degradation. No fire risk. Just a cart that's always ready to roll.
Our fleet rule: plugged in is the default state. If your cart is parked, it should be charging. The only time the BV55L should be unplugged is when it's actually being driven.
