GETTING CART Key OUT OF LOCKBOX

STEP 1: LOOK UNDER MIDDLE ROW SEAT

Using the armrest, lift up the middle row seats. You'll see the lockbox positioned near the battery.

STEP 2: HOW TO OPEN LOCKBOX

Enter 4 digit code

Line up the four digits, then slide the black button downward. The lockbox will pop open, revealing your key inside.

What’s the code? We've emailed it to all approved drivers in your group the day before your rental began and again on your rental start date. You also received it via text when your cart rental began.

HOW CHARGED IS THE BATTERY

Look at the round gauge near the glovebox in the front seat on the passenger side.

ELECTRIC - LITHIUM - ECO

Heads up: If under 50% charged the battery depletes extremely quickly.

Consider 25% charged an emergency situation — you’ll have only a quarter mile left before it dies completely.

————————————

🕥 HOW MUCH LONGER WILL IT TAKE TO CHARGE?

Never unplug it while charging. The meter near the steering wheel will not reset accurately if you unplug it while charging. The meter does not show an increase while cart is charging. You can tell it’s successfully charging based on the charging box lights — see chart above.

🛎️ AirTag Alerts

Your rental comes with an Apple AirTag installed which cannot be removed. This helps us provide quick and efficient support if you need assistance. Each vehicle has a unique ID number on its windshield that matches the alert on your phone. You can use this code to confirm whether it's our vehicle that triggered your phone alert during your stay (if you have that functionality enabled in your device).

Benefits of AirTag Tracking:

  • Quick Support: If you need help, we can locate and assist you faster.

  • Enhanced Security: Ensures your rental experience is smooth and worry-free.

Troubleshooting

Lights won't turn on?

Check the blue-light switch by looking low on the dashboard for a black switch with a blue indicator light. Flip it to the ON position, as someone may have accidentally bumped it off.

Still not working?

Verify your dashboard is lit (if not, turn the ignition key). Don't adjust any other toggle switches on the dashboard—they control power to the glow system.

MONITORING YOUR LEVEL OF CHARGE

How Charged Is My Cart? To locate your cart's unique charging instructions, scan the QR code on the Beach Better sticker (not the Walton County sticker) located on your cart's windshield.

REMINDERS

  • Charge every night Plug in your cart whenever you're back at the condo. Charge it overnight every night to ensure it's ready for the next day.

  • Dedicated outlet required To avoid tripping the breaker, your cart must charge on its own dedicated circuit/outlet with nothing else plugged into it. This is especially important if you're staying in a place built more than 5-10 years ago.

  • ⚠️ Battery depletion accelerates below 50% A cart depletes from 50% to 0% much faster than from 100% to 50%. If your cart is below 50%, don't leave until it has time to charge more. Never depart if you're not 50%+ charged. Always pack your charging cord on rides.

  • Always bring your charging cord Bring the charging cord with you in case you need to plug in for a while to make it the rest of the way home.

  • Multiple carts? Stagger charging times If you've rented multiple carts, stagger their charging times. Plugging two carts into the same outlet will trip the breaker, and neither cart will charge.

  • Verify charging status Check the ends of the extension cord to ensure they're lit up, indicating the cart is charging. If not, the outlet might be faulty, or the GFI might be tripped.

🛺 User Errors | THINGS TO CHECK

    "Cart Won't Charge"

Important Charging Tips for Multiple Carts

If you've rented multiple carts, stagger their charging cycles. Each cart needs its own outlet to avoid tripping the breaker. Use different circuits for each cart whenever possible. If separate outlets aren't available, alternate charging times by charging one cart at a time.

    Check the Cord Ends

If the ends of your extension cord are not lit up, the outlet might be faulty, or the GFI might be tripped. Check your breaker box and reset any tripped circuits.

"Cart Won't Turn On or Move"

Here are the most common reasons why a rental cart might not turn on or move.

    1. Tow (Kill) Switch

Ensure the tow switch is flipped to the RUN position, not the TOW position. SEE PHOTOS BELOW

The run/tow switch (sometimes labeled On/Off) is located in one of two spots: front row passenger side near the glove box, or under the seat nearest to where the driver sits.

    2. Ignition

Turn the ignition twice to the right.

If you only turn it once, the dashboard will light up, but the cart won't move.

    ————————————

    📋 Troubleshooting Made Easy

See A Wrench With A Fault Code Number On Dashboard? The cart is very smart and will tell you if something is bugging it! Is there a number next to a wrench on your dashboard? This is called a fault code. Here are the most common culprits for causing renter confusion:

Fault Code 23: Cart was in Forward or Reverse when you put the key in the ignition

This will clear automatically in 30-90 seconds. No action is needed.

Fault Code 92: Battery is LOW—Cart urgently needs a charge

The cart is not being charged long enough. Plug it in immediately and leave it untouched until it's fully charged.

Fault Code 40: Parking brake is not all the way released

You've got to fully release the parking brake before the cart will move. Lift it back up and then hold the button while gently pressing the hand brake all the way down until it stops. Occasionally, a heavy rainstorm or bubble bath leading to water on the sensor will activate this fault. Wait 30-45 minutes until the sensor dries—it'll self-correct when dry.

Fault Code 68: Gear Fault was activated

The cart thinks it's in reverse and forward simultaneously. Put it in neutral, remove the key, and reset the Run/Tow switch. To reset, flip the kill switch off RUN over to TOW, wait 30 seconds, and flip the switch back to RUN position. Remove the key from the ignition and ensure the cart is in neutral (not Forward or Reverse) when you reset the tow switch.

WHEN YOUR RENTAL BEGINS

🔐 LOCKBOX & KEY: The lockbox code will be sent to approved drivers via email twice. Once the day before your rental and a second time as soon as your cart is ready for use.

TIMING: We’ll have it clean and ready by the start time of your reservation. We’ll holler if it’s ready a smidge early.

GETTING DELIVERY? Due to the high volume of deliveries and pickups we manage daily, your golf cart may arrive earlier than your scheduled delivery time. If this happens, you're welcome to start enjoying it right away! Please note that we cannot delay deliveries based on property manager preferences. In such cases, the LSV will be parked neatly to the side, out of the way, ensuring it never interferes with property management turnover activities. To maintain our schedule and keep prices competitive, we route our drivers based on geographic efficiency rather than individual reservation end times. We appreciate your understanding and flexibility—it helps us serve the dozens of families we work with each day! 🌞

RETURNING YOUR VEHICLE

1. Place the key into the lock box and scramble up the numbers so it's secured.

ELECTRIC: Charge the cart to 100%. Leave the cart plugged in when you depart if delivery or return it above 90% (if self pickup).

2. Text (850) 830-4699 when it’s ready for pickup by our driver. We’ll be there when the rental ends or not long after, depending on the timing of the driver’s route.

⭐ CART-FRIENDLY AREAS

Check with your property manager to ensure your neighborhood or resort permits Beach Better gas and electric rental carts before placing your reservation. We do our best to ensure your fun, but ultimately, ensuring your rental neighborhood allows for golf cart rentals is your responsibility.

  • Many HOAs allow property owners to loan their carts to their guests but some do not allow guests to rent carts from outside providers.

  • To review which neighborhoods we know do not permit rental carts, click here. Obtain confirmation from your property manager in writing that a Beach Better low speed vehicle cart will be welcome at your condo or resort. ⚠️ Caution: If you rent a cart that you're unable to use due to HOA restrictions, the cancellation policy will apply.

Bottom line: A quick call or email to your property manager now can save you hassle later. Let's make sure your cart is welcome before you book.
