Know Before You Go: HOA RULES

Check with your property manager to ensure your neighborhood or resort permits Beach Better gas and electric rental carts before placing your reservation. We do our best to ensure your fun, but ultimately, ensuring your rental neighborhood allows for golf cart rentals is your responsibility.

  • Many HOAs allow property owners to loan their carts to their guests but some do not allow guests to rent carts from outside providers.

  • To review which neighborhoods we know do not permit rental carts, click here. Obtain confirmation from your property manager in writing that a Beach Better low speed vehicle cart will be welcome at your condo or resort. ⚠️ Caution: If you rent a cart that you're unable to use due to HOA restrictions, the cancellation policy will apply.

Bottom line: A quick call or email to your property manager now can save you hassle later. Let's make sure your cart is welcome before you book.

WHEN YOUR VACATION RENTAL BEGINS

🔐 LOCKBOX & KEY: The lockbox code will be sent to approved drivers via email twice. Once the day before your rental and a second time as soon as your cart is ready for use.

TIMING: We’ll have it clean and ready by the start time of your reservation. We’ll holler if it’s ready a smidge early.

GETTING DELIVERY? Due to the high volume of deliveries and pickups we manage daily, your golf cart may arrive earlier than your scheduled delivery time. If this happens, you're welcome to start enjoying it right away! Please note that we cannot delay deliveries based on property manager preferences. In such cases, the LSV will be parked neatly to the side, out of the way, ensuring it never interferes with property management turnover activities. To maintain our schedule and keep prices competitive, we route our drivers based on geographic efficiency rather than individual reservation end times. We appreciate your understanding and flexibility—it helps us serve the dozens of families we work with each day! 🌞

RETURNING YOUR VEHICLE

1. Place the key into the lock box and scramble up the numbers so it's secured.

ELECTRIC: Charge the cart to 100%. Leave the cart plugged in when you depart if delivery or return it above 90% (if self pickup).

GAS: Fill the tank with 87 unleaded or add prepaid fuel to your reservation.

2. Text (850) 830-4699 when it’s ready for pickup by our driver. We’ll be there when the rental ends or not long after, depending on the timing of the driver’s route.

CANCELLATION POLICY

Cancellation requests made within 10 days of the start date will not be refunded. Cancellation requests made 10+ days prior to the start date, regardless of the reason, will incur a $50 cancellation fee. If you book a rental in a neighborhood or community that does not allow Beach Better golf carts, the standard cancellation policy still applies. It is the renter's responsibility to verify that their rental location permits golf cart use prior to booking.

If we need to recall your cart due to a hurricane or other unforeseen issue, we will issue a prorated refund for days you prepaid for but couldn't use.

If you operate the vehicle in violation of the law by driving it on US Highway 98 (four lane 45mph road that runs East/West), driving it on the sidewalk, using the vehicle without seat belts, or transporting children 3 or under without a car seat, your low speed vehicle will be confiscated and your refund for unused time will be $0.

This cancellation policy is available on our website in multiple places for review prior to booking - the policies, FAQs, renter guidebook pages are some examples where it’s posted. Additionally, the primary driver was required to read the policy and attest to the fact that they saw it before remitting payment for the reservation. It might seem redundant to list it so many places in addition to the checkout process, but our goal is to make 100% certain it was noticed and understood before booking.

Weather-Related EARLY RETURNS

In the event of extreme weather, we will contact you to arrange for the pick-up of your low speed vehicle to prevent any risk of damage.

  • If Beach Better requires the rental be returned to us due to inclement weather, a refund for unused time will be issued.

  • If a customer chooses to return your vehicle early for any reason, including inclement weather, the customer will not be eligible for a refund nor a credit towards a future reservation. No refunds for customer-initiated early returns.

📋 Refueling Before Returning | Fill Up With 87 Unleaded

When it's time to return your street legal gas-powered golf cart rental, top off the tank with 87 Unleaded.

  • If you'd rather not worry about refueling, text 850-830-4699 to prepay for your gas. We'll handle the refuel for you (saves you a trip to the gas station!) and bill the card on file +$18.50.

  • If you forget to refuel before returning and have not added Prepaid Fuel in advance then we will bill $30.00 to the primary renter's credit card on file.

🚔 Safety First | Enjoy Your Ride Legally

We want you and your loved ones to have a blast while staying safe on the roads! You're driving a Low Speed Vehicle (LSV)—not a golf cart—because it has a Florida license plate. That means you're subject to the exact same traffic laws you follow when driving your truck or minivan.

Emerald Coast Parkway (also called Business 98 and Highway 98): No Driving Allowed

It's illegal to drive along the main 40 mph, four-lane highway that runs through town. Stay off Emerald Coast Parkway and its sidewalks. However, you can cross over it at any traffic light to enjoy the restaurants, shops, and attractions on the north side of the highway.

Easy + fun way to remember: Over Business 98, you can cross with care, to enjoy the shops and restaurants there. Cross north or south, it's a breeze. East or west, avoid it please! Scenic 98 or 30A, the way to go, and to all sidewalks, just say no! Follow the rules every day, to keep those tickets far away! 🤓

No sidewalks, beaches, grass, or trails

It's illegal to drive on sidewalks, beaches, grass, or walking trails in Walton or Okaloosa County where you’re visiting. Park only in marked vehicle parking spots where you’d park a truck or SUV. The county issues tickets for illegally parked Low Speed Vehicles, so don't be tempted to follow the crowd—even if others are doing it.

Seatbelts for everyone

Every passenger must be secured in a seatbelt. Kids under 3 must ride in their car seat (lap riding is illegal and unsafe).

We want you to have the best time cruising around, so please be mindful of these laws. If violated, we'll have to confiscate your Low Speed Vehicle without refund, and we don't want that to happen!

No impaired driving

Drinking alcohol or using drugs while operating the LSV is strictly prohibited.

No cell phone use while driving

According to Florida law, cell phone use is prohibited while operating the LSV. Drivers are also prohibited from wearing any kind of headset for music devices or mobile devices while driving the vehicle.

Safe passenger management

Drivers are responsible for maintaining proper weight distribution of passengers in the cart and must confirm that all passengers are seated and safely belted in before the vehicle is put into motion. No standing in the cart when in motion or when parked.

Headlights at night

At night, headlights must be manually turned on and used.

Nothing on the roof

Do not place items (chairs, coolers, or items of any sort) on the roof of the LSV.

Your insurance is primary

Your car insurance is primary while you operate our LSVs.

Report damages immediately

Any damages to the cart should be reported at the time they occur. Don't wait until you leave town to let us know—snap a picture and text it to us at (850) 830-4699.

Severe weather protocol

In cases of severe weather or hurricanes, we reserve the right to pick up our vehicle from you to store it indoors until the storm passes and it is safe to return it back to you for continued use.

No pets

Pets are not permitted in the LSV.

Late returns

The primary renter and authorized drivers accept responsibility for any charges to their credit card for the recovery of a vehicle that was not returned on time. Low speed vehicles returned late will be billed at the rate of $100 per hour until they are returned.

Fees (billed to the card on file)

  • Citations: Penalty amount + $35 administrative processing fee

  • Late Return: $100 per hour

  • Lost Key: $50

  • Missing Extension Cord: $50

  • Refuel: $30

  • Recharge: $100

Legal Notice

Failure to return the LSV upon expiration of the rental period and failure to pay all amounts due (including costs for damage to the property or equipment) are prima facie evidence of intent to defraud, punishable in accordance with Section 812.155, Florida Statutes.

Zero-Tolerance Violations | Immediate Confiscation

Because your safety is our priority, if you're observed in violation of the law or our agreement and addendum rules, the cart will be repossessed and you will not be eligible for a refund. We do not give warnings. More specifically:

Driving on Emerald Coast Parkway/Highway 98 or its sidewalks

If you are observed driving on US Highway 98/Emerald Coast Parkway (the main, four-lane, 45 mph road that runs east/west) or its pedestrian paths, your vehicle will be confiscated and your refund for the unused time will be $0.00. Always take the road running along the beach when traveling east or west and never use Emerald Coast Parkway/Highway 98.

Seatbelt violations

If you are observed using the vehicle without seatbelts, lap-riding, or double-buckling, your vehicle will be confiscated and your refund for the unused time will be $0.00

Child safety seat violations

If you are observed transporting children 3 or under without a car seat, your vehicle will be confiscated and your refund for unused time will be $0.00
